My Preferred Model for FTS

My preferred model for this year’s field trip and seminar would be Model A. As far as I remember, if I am right, this model includes one major field trip which is to be held in Manila, one minor field trip within Mindanao, one national seminar and lastly, two hours of interpersonal skills. Before choosing this model, well of course, I always considered many factors. Of course for me, the most important factor would be the budget. As the former president of last year’s field trip and seminars said during our discussion, based on their field trip and seminar conducted, each student paid an amount of 18,000 pesos which covering a 5-day trip in Manila and attendance to the Philippine Y4IT in SMX MOA. The airfare, full meals and accommodation was already included here. Of course, when it comes to the budget, I have to consider the opinion and situation of my family in terms of our financial aspect. Well, we know already that Model A is very expensive than other proposed Models, so it is so hard especially on my part because I’m a part of a broken family, but still I have to let them know about it because they are the ones who will provide the money for the payment for this field trip. And fortunately, as I talked with my parents, they still want me to choose Model A even if it is expensive because they’d understand that we students will able to get more learning and experience in Manila, and I am thankful that they will find a way on how to pay the proposed estimated money for this trip. My parents and I were all agreed that it would be better to go other places, specifically outside Mindanao, particularly in Luzon areas.

Before choosing the right model, I also considered some opinions of my fellow student who already finished their field trip. They said that it would be better if I choose Model A, because when it comes to Information and Communication Technology companies in Manila, they have the latest technologies and centralized big companies. Since the Manila has a lot better of ICT companies as compared to local companies here in Davao, so I can merely say that we can get more learning and idea in the different aspects of their companies. Not just about the opportunity to get more learning and more ideas but also to visit and explore others places in Manila, as well as enjoy the places that we have never been before. Honestly speaking, I preferred this model not just because for our own enjoyment and fun, but most importantly because this model is surely fit for us students of Institute of Computing. This field trip and seminar is helpful to us students in order for us to familiarize with the recent trends and developments in ICT companies in Manila through the seminars that will be conducted there. In addition, we will also gain exposure to different companies that we will be visit there as well as the seminars that will be conducted, especially in the Y4IT. According to our facilitator, it was been a decade since this event begun and it had reached 15,000 participants or more since then. It was performed yearly and I guess that there will be lots of ideas that we will learn from this conference and also many of these ideas that had been shared became successful by the support of the partners of this organization. To be exposed in this kind of field trip and national seminar is not just an opportunity. In fact, it is more than that. Exposure is the best way to earn confidence. Model A does not only give us the experience, the learning, and seminars, but this model gives us the best way; the best way on developing our confidence and discovering new things.

I can say that this model is the best opportunity we could have in this field trip because this would help us to become more productive as a student. This model would not only help us to grow us individual IT students, but this can be our stepping stone to become competitive and expert IT professionals someday. It will help us mold our characters and skills which are applicable in our future careers, not only in the areas of technologies. With this model I chose, it exposes us more in the field of technology and world-class companies. To be exposed in such technology that only this model could offer is a great an opportunity and experience for students like us. Furthermore, this model does not only give us the opportunity of learning, but it gives us the opportunity to enjoy the fullest of being an IT student. This model could also enhance our relationship towards one another, more like, team building. As much as we can earn more knowledge and ideas in Manila, we can also have fun and enjoyment while we are having our tours. Moreover, that’s the reason why I chose the Model A.

            I am happy that we will have the Model A for this year’s field trip and seminars because we can now have the chance to travel in others places with my friends and other fellow classmates, and especially for the first timers; we can now have the chance to ride on a plane. However, next to big companies in Manila, there is a big chance that we can also have the opportunity to visit and have fun in some amusement parks such as Enchanted Kingdom; that we can ride on different rides, Star City and many other places. This trip doesn’t only give us the enjoyment, but because of this opportunity, we are even more confident to do more, to do our best in our studies and future careers. In which I think that is the main purpose for this subject course. Therefore I conclude that, the journey, learning, experiences, fun and enjoyment were all made up in this one model. That is why I preferred this Model A more than the other models.

Technology Innovations for Davao City

1.  Automated Garbage Bin

            As we look around, modern technology nowadays, have been widely exhibit in any establishments according to its purpose. Almost everything we usually do is altered by modern devices and machines which have now capability to do common human works.However, as we all know, proper waste management must be one of the top priorities of our community. As we look around, we could be able to see that almost all of us were careless in terms of our own trash and usually in almost houses our trashes were not segregated. I could see that there were still a lot of trashes everywhere especially in canals even if our city government already propagated the segregation of wastes. I believe maybe in nature, we Filipinos tend to disobey simple rules. Furthermore, one common causes of flood here in Davao City is the negligent of most of us in throwing our garbage anywhere. So I may suggest that Davao City must apply a new purposive technology that would help create a well-structured community which I would suggest is the high tech trash bin machine. It is a programmed machine that every time you dispose a trash, it would automatically segregate the biodegradable from the non-biodegradable waste.By the use of this machine, we can say that the level of waste management in Davao City would be in a proper way as our contribution to Mother Earth.

2  2.  High Tech Fitting Machine

 

In other area, as an experience, whenever I happen to shop for my clothing, there are times that I got irritated because of the time consuming and exerting much effort in terms of fitting your desired jeans or clothes. I guess the size stated in every clothing is not enough because there were some instances that the sizes stated which was your size, do not really fit to your original size. So in this manner, you have to fit another sizes just to make sure it really fits for you and it is really time consuming especially when you're in hurry. Furthermore, I would suggest an idea that I think could be effective which is the easy and new purposive technology, a high tech fittingmachine for clothes that if the scanned item which you’re going to buy,  this machine would show if it does fit to your body or not. Of course there must be a program installed in this machine that could scan and detects your vital statistics. This machine would also shows the exact size for a certain clothes that really fits to you. In addition, this machine would also displays an output photos that you’re wearing that certain clothe in the widescreen. So with this, you could see if it is really suits to your fashion style. With this machine, it would be easier and less hassle for the user, and could also help in terms of the fast production of the store and would greatly satisfy every customer.

  

     3.  High Tech Push Carts 

  

Modern inventions are indeed helpful to make man’s daily work easy and effortless. As time goes by, creation of modern machines are increasing and it seems it is propagated all over the world. As an experience, whenever I happen to shop in a grocery store, there are times that I find it hard and tough in determining where was a certain product is located, especially when a grocery store has wide vicinity. So in this manner, you have to find and ask a nearer service crew, and it would be a time consuming. So I may suggest that they must have a new purposive technology which is a high tech pushcart. There must be a kind of device attached to the pushcart that would let the user inputs a certain product anddisplaying its output on a screen to where do this product located. This machine was also programmed to scanned products and displays its price on the screen. In addition, the user could also have the shopping list in this device by just sending a file via Bluetooth. In this manner, it would be easier for the shoppers especially when they have a lot of products to buy.

Technology Innovations for Fast-Food Chain

1.  High Tech Machine for Take-out Orders 

Fast food business is a kind of business that is propagated all over the world. One of this is the KFC Company. KFC is known of its tasty and delicious foods like fried chickens, burgers and others. Still, KFC is somehow has no differ to different fast food chains because as I was in the store, there is also falling in line. When we happen to go to KFC with my friends, we need to fall in line before we take our order, so, we decided to find for other fast food. This idea is somehow slow in terms of serving the customer. I think if I am not mistaken, everything in terms of food preparation is done manually, especially in taking out orders. For preparing take outs, they just prepare it hand by hand and what if there is a situation that there are so many customer who intended to take out  order at the same time, would the customer satisfy to this kind of slow service? I don’t think so. It is unfair in the part of the customer because they pay well but they only receive unsatisfactory service. The store must come to a point of decision making. Purposive machines would be useful for this kind of problem. So I would suggest that there should be a high tech machine for preparing take out orders. It is a programmed machine that would let the user easily select his or her order and directly prepares the meal. This machine would be useful and it would give good services to the customer and also it would be a big help for the crew to lighten their works.

      2.   High Tech Chair

My next fast food visitation was in Greenwich. This store is known of its tasty and delicious pizza. This place is also good to take your meals. The moment we visited there together with my friends, this establishment adopts modern technologies. I can say that the technologies used in this establishment were upgraded to the next level because as what I observed, they already using touch screen device in their counters. As for my comment, with regards to this establishment, all I can say is that it is convenient for all the people to take their meals here. However, I think it would be more convenient if they have a new purposive technology. In which I would suggest is the automated chair, it must have a kind of device installed in a chair that automatically hides beneath the floor when it detects that it is no longer been used. I believe that it would be a great help especially to the janitors because they will no longer have to exert effort in moving the chairs in order to sweep or clean the floor. And also the good thing is that it would be a pleasing to see and it lightens the work of the crews in terms of arranging the chairs. This would be more useful and applicable for this new generation of technology.

3.  Vacant Table Detector

My next fast food visitation was in Jollibee. Jollibee Foods Corporation is one of the biggest known fast-food companies in the Philippines. Jollibee is also known of its tasty and delicious foods like French fries, burgers and others. It is the reason why many customers visits and take their order but some problem arises. This time, I will give my insights about this store and what I observe in terms of their services towards to their customer. As I observed inside the store, there is a problem I find. The store is usually composed of two storeys. Due to many customers, vacant tables were almost occupied so there were some customers would prefer to go up to the next floor. In this situation, it is somehow a bit frustrating because you are going to find your own seat to settle on and enjoy your meal. As I would suggest, there must be a machine or program that would show whether there are still vacant table. For me, I would suggest a machine that is able to detect a customer for that certain table. There must be a kind of sensor installed in the table that would detect if it is occupied and displaying its output on a widescreen along the counter side. In this manner, the customer would be able to know where to go and where to seat without trying to go on the second floor.

 

Technology Innovations for Hotel

1.  High Tech Bed

My next hotel visitation was in Park Inn. The moment I pass by in this hotel, as I can describe at this hotel, it has wide vicinity. This hotel is somehow amazing for its good facilities and architecture. It adopts modern technologies. As for my comment, with regards to this hotel, all I can say is that it is perfect or should I say perfect and convenient for all the people to spend their time. The technologies used in this establishment were upgraded to the next level. We can say that, mostly, everything is automated. However, I would suggest an idea that I think could be an effective innovation, a high tech bedroom. It is a kind of device attached to the bed that has a body temperature detector, which would automatically changes its temperature based on the body’s temperature of the user. If the user’s temperature is hot, this device would automatically set its temperature to cold and vice versa. 

2.    Mobile App Reservation

My next hotel visitation was in SEDA. The moment I pass by in this hotel, as I can describe this hotel, it has the same trend of modern technology to Park Inn. As we look around, we could be able to see that almost machines are utilized by among of us. It is undeniable for us right now that in this generation that we are living in a fast growing creation of technology. Today, we can say that modern machines somehow colonized by some part of the world. However, I may suggest that this must have a mobile application that enables the customer for room reservation. In addition, by the use of mobile reservation, the customer can also select his or her desired room to check in and indicates its overall payment. In this manner, this idea also contributes to the company’s progress and much easier for the customers.

   

3.  High Tech Digital Menu

Hotel business is also a kind of business that is propagated all over the world. One of this is the El Bajada Hotel. The moment I pass by this hotel, as an observation, I can say that it has a great year of existence. Though this hotel is already old, it is not a big factor for it to not be updated from modern technology that is usually used in this generation. As an observation, in terms of taking their meals there, I could see that the service are using the menu paper and take the order of the costumer. This idea is also somehow slow in terms of serving the customer. The utilization of modern technology would help the fast production and good quality of services. So I would suggest that they must have a digital menu for ordering meals. By the use of digital menu, the customer can easily select his or her order and directly tells the chef to what meal he or she is going to order. In this manner, this idea could help the company’s progress and satisfies their customers with great service.

Second Meeting - FTS

We had our second meeting last June 13 at the Room 506 at the fifth floor of engineering building. Our fts president called for a meeting to discuss about our concerns regarding our plans and payment for this trip. We had discussed about our plan on what do we prefer to take for booking our tickets. As said by our president, we have to choose between batch booking and batch booking. In the batch booking, we will be divided by five batches; each batch consists of 9 persons. She also added that each batch will have different rates depending if we can avail the promo or not. On the other hand, the block booking, we will be book a flight for the whole class which is 45 persons and the payment for the tickets will be fixed. Unlike with the batch booking, there will be tendency that we can avail a promo if there’s any. For me, I would prefer the batch booking because as what we had settled, even if we have different rates each batch, the overall payment of the whole class will be divided so that the ticket fees would be even. In addition, I think if we choose to take the batch booking, we can have cheaper payments for our tickets. Furthermore, our president returned our CORs and receipts and distributed a copy of conditions regarding on our activities, which we will be signed.

First Meeting - Techno 1

For our first meeting I’d really did my best to come at school early to make sure that I will not be late in our first meeting in Techno 1 because I know what will be the consequences are if I will be late in this subject.  Before we started our class, based on his tradition all the so called “virgins” or the first timers in his class will be performing their talent that would give entertainment to the class. Well after that, our professor discussed what Technopreneurship 1 is all about. He shared his past experiences with his students that could give us inspiration. He also discussed about our first task that should be submitted next Tuesday. We have to visit different establishments here in Davao such as in malls, restaurants and schools in order to think of an idea in terms of new technology that could innovate and improve their processes or services. We have to think beyond the box. We should not be limited on ideas we already know instead we have to dig deeper and explore more to see a better opportunity.

First Meeting - FTS

In our first meeting, we discussed about our requirements and the up-coming events, activities and seminar that will happen. I am happy that we will have the Model A for this year’s field trip and seminars because we can now have a chance to travel and go to the different places together with my friends and other fellow classmates. It is an opportunity to us, since there are many ICT companies in Manila which was much better companies than here in Mindanao and it is our big chance to get plenty of knowledge about how ICT companies in Manila manage their different resources and different projects. And also it is a big opportunity to get learning and more ideas but also to enjoy the trip as well as explore the places there. And of course, I want this field trip to be a memorable and special one, since this is my first ever trip to attend to which would be held out of town. We also discussed that we should have an advance payment of seven thousand pesos for the booking of our tickets and the deadline should be on June 27. Moreover, we went to our School Clinic to have our Medical Certificate which is one of the requirements of this field trip and seminars.
