Field Trip and Seminars Travel Report: Minor Fieldtrip



Seminar Overview
As part of our FTS subject we were required to have 1 minor fieldtrip here in Mindanao. The said activity was held last August 27, 2014 at SynnexConcentrix Corporation located at Damosa IT Park, Lanang, Davao City. We were involved with such activities with the primary goals of familiarizing the recent trends and developments in Information and Communication Technology thru technical seminars and fieldtrips as well as gaining exposures. In this regard, we conducted a company visit there that was related to our field of study. We have acquired information that we were not aware of. SynnexConcentrix Corporation is a recognized leader in providing platforms, people and services to support high-value interactions at every stage of the customer lifecycle. The company showed some of their facilities and resources that caught our interests. Even though it was just one hour tour, indeed, it was really an educational trip. It was fun at the same time since we were able to visit one of the large companies here in Davao which where our interests are inclined with.
Day 1
Today we had our minor field trip; we went on a company visit at the SynnexConcentrixDamosa, Davao City. As planned, we all gathered there at 8 o’clock because according to our FTS president, our company tour will start at exactly 9 o’clock but then it seems that time runs so fast that we started our company tour late, it was 10 o’clock I guess. Before we started our company tour, one of the employee of the Concentrix Company decided to divide the whole class which is 45, into four batches so that it would not be too crowded and in order to accommodate each one of us. The aim of this minor fieldtrip is for us IT students to have knowledge about their company, of what are the services they offer and to be familiarized with the recent trends about their company relating to our chosen field, and as well as to gain exposure.
What I learned?
I learned a lot of things in our minor fieldtrip. From the employees who facilitated us, I learned so many things about their facilities and what are the services they offer to their different customers. The company handles inbound calls for Technical Support which is identifying the main problem and providing step by step instructions. They also troubleshoot and uses support tools to provide quality customer service. Indeed, they really offer good quality services not just to their customers but also to their employees.
What I liked?
I like way the Concentrix treat the people around them, not just to their clients but as well as to their employees. I believed that the Concentrix Company was truly offering good services to their clients and it was really obvious in the way they treated us. I liked or I must say, I love the environment of the Concentrix Company is having, they have an activity area where the employees are free to play games such as ping pong, dance pad and etc., and also the most important thing is that, they have the quiet lounge where employees can sleep there and take a rest. It was a good thing and I liked it, since most of their employees were assigned to graveyard so it is convenient for them especially for those who stayed in far places. I also liked the ambiance of the place there, it was peaceful and very neat especially the comfort room The employees were accommodating and approachable. There were no dull moments during the tour since the employees were entertaining and very knowledgeable enough to impart us their knowledge all about the Concentrix Company and the services they offer. It was so enjoyable and entertaining while learning something new about the Concentrix Company.
What I didn’t like?
What I didn’t like is that, the company tour did not start on time. Since it was just a half day event and unluckily it started late I guess it was 10 o’clock already, meaning we only have two hours for the entire company tour. The bad thing is that we were batched into four and unfortunately I belonged to the last group to be accommodated, so we waited there for I guess an hour and it’s really a kind of boring you know. Although I had still learned a lot of things in just a short period of time in our tour, but then it was really a lack of time. 
Appendix
What can I recommend for the improvement of the advance seminar program of USEP?
For me, I would recommend SynnexConcentrix Corporation as one of the choices of the students who will take up the FTS subject next year because as what I observed during our tour, they really treated us well and it was a great place.
My advice to those who will take their advance seminar program in the near future.
For those students who will be taking up the FTS subject which is the minor field trip, the advice that I would give them is that to cooperate and especially don’t be shy to ask questions or any clarifications regarding to their company in order to learn more and don’t waste the opportunity that you are in there site.
