Alternative Mindset

I can say that this subject Technopreneurship 1 is one of the most challenging subjects for me. Perhaps, I find this subject very interesting and fun. Although it can be considered as one of the most challenging subjects yet it gives to us students the learning and knowledge for us to develop ourselves to be an effective technopreneur someday and to be a better student. Well, I would like to say that our instructor had really inspires me a lot through the things he had shared to us. Just like, when he shared and explained to us about the default mindset of every student and through this alternative mindset which by the help of technopreneurship, we could be able to have a better opportunities as for a result. I have learned that the default mindset or what we called the employment mindset is the idea which is what most of the humans thinks. As our instructor said, the default mindset of every individual was to first, get into school, have good grades and graduate to get a high-paying job. Of course, all of us wanted to get good grades and get a high-paying salary from the job that we wanted to get. Usually, we encountered this kind of mindset to some of the parents in our society. Well, as a student, it’s really in nature to have that kind of mindset because that’s what our parents taught us. The default mindset of the parents is to set their kids in the school to get some good grades and to be able to graduate and get some nice job that would pay a high salary for their kids. This is probably the reason why some of the parents in our society commonly have a default mindset. It is a straightforward mindset that is systematically presented by the parents and which their children bear until they go to college. So in this manner, it becomes a habit to most of the students to exercise this kind of mindset and carry it with them until they’d finish college. Dealing with the mindset that is usually common to each family in our society, this default mindset can be a perfect thing that the parents would think for their kids.
In addition, most schools too, subscribe and support this kind of mindset. And actually it became the default mindset of every individual until they got employed. But as a result of this, as our instructor shared to us, almost the best graduates that he noticed were lured to different companies which offered attractive compensation packages and were sought after by the companies, usually in Manila, Cebu and even outside the Philippines. That is why the average graduates who remained in Davao were even find it hard to land in a good-paying jobs. So as our instructor said, he was disappointed to this kind of result but also at the same time, he was proud to hear that almost of his students excel in the companies they are working for. However, there were disturbing reality check here; the best graduates of our city helps in the development of other places, not in Davao. And this is a brain drain cycle which happens yearly to us. So as we can see nowadays, our city that we were living right now, I can say that it is still far behind from the other places that they excel in terms of their companies and their trends of technology innovations. In addition, as a result of this, Davao City’s industry remains thin and its development is very slow. Would we continue this kind of development forever? Davao made the best graduates they can ever have but then other places took it and this city remains sought-after human resource provider.
In this subject, I learned something that changed my approach to studies in connection to our future and it was all about our mindset. Typically we picture out ourselves of landing into the employment world as employees so our parents send us to school to achieve this goal. We also do well on our studies for us to have good jobs after we graduate. In which this kind of mindset was discouraged on the subject Technopreneurship. As our instructor once said, it is not just enough to get job after schooling or simply being an employee. Instead of holding this way of thinking we have to level up and change our mindset into something better. The alternative mindset or what we call the Technopreneurship mindset shows a mindset which applies to the opportunities provided by technology and the default idea of some other people which is to go to school, get good grades, and create your own company, not only that the alternative mindset provided supplementary concepts like the utilization of knowledge and skills paired with core values and the passion to innovate and create the way of technology. Yes, it is true and a kind of optimistic, in which I did liked it.
Nowadays, technology has been now widely used by among of us. In fact, these technologies were become helpful in our daily activities that enable us to do our works in an easier way. This alternative mindset would really help some of the intellectual and technical capable individuals to stay in their own country and to avoid circumstances like leaving from their own country to help other country by their own skills. This mindset would also be able to help some entrepreneurs to become more inclined with technologies and it would help them to make a way that all of the technologies that they made would really have a good results like creating their own name in the world of technology based business industry. Of course, everybody wants that kind of future and I myself been dreaming of that. But the question is; are we all going to achieve that goal? Well, we have to use our knowledge, skills, core values, creativity and of course our passion to create and innovate through technology. This is how technopreneurship wants us to be.
